Are Europe’s move to make Canada a European state destabilizing?

Europe is rearming. Europe’s politics today are broadly unstable. In a year, there may be a completely different environment. For example, consider the AfD. Let’s say Canada becomes an EU state. AfD/right wing becomes broadly popular, Anti-American sentiment continues, and America elects a leftist as next president. Will Americans be okay with a distinctly foreign entity as a neighbor?
